My suggestion is only use the SD card, If you want to switch back to android version just take out the SD card and you are ready to go. No worries about bricking your system or put images back again.
Working fine for mounts now with version 8.2.4.1

Anybody have experience with the leia version? Is it worth to use this or not stable enough ?
Yes, I've installed it the latest release (9.0.1) on my Minix U9-H and then also on my U1. Everything goes fine except about all scrapers because also if I've set properly language (IT), they still scrape movies/tv shows with EN. I didn't found any solution so I goes back to LE 8.4.2.1.
Anyway, I think most of you don't mind about that problem and overall I can say I've noticed CE pretty fast than LE on U9-H but unfortunately it don't recognize perfectly all buttons of remote controller (A3 in my case). For example power button properly power on the device but don't work to power off.

I've just set up my new Minix NEO U9-H to run LibreELEC from SD and it runs pretty well, but the Kodi (16.1) interface is different from when i run it under Android. The homepage is different and so are the video controls. I particularly miss the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons in the Android Kodi version.

I tried CoreElec to see if that would be any different (I couldn't see how it would) but that didn't work at all, so i reverted to LibreELEC.

I have a cheap old OTT box that i've set up in the same way and that works a treat - the LibreELEC Kodi and Android Kodi work almost identically - so i'm disappointed to say the least.

Could anyone please suggest a way i could set it up the way i want to? Is there a LibreELEC version for Minix NEO U9-H that will run Kodi like Android does?

Thanks.

Yes, just follow the good links to get last CoreElec or LibreElec versions, with Kodi 18.1.
I'm using last CoreElec and it's working fine with U9-H.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried the LibreElec 8.2.2.3 with Kodi 16.1 and Kodi 17.3 but neither has the functionality i'm after. I've uninstalled Kodi 17.3 and tried to install 18.1 (kodi-18.1-Leia-arm64-v8a.apk) but all i get after clicking install is "app not installed".

try CoreElec 9.0.1 stable version with last Kodi version. Select U9-H as device.

Thanks for the link. I've installed 32bit Kodi 18.1 but it doesn't have the 'home' interface and fast forward/rewind functions i was hoping for, as in earlier versions under Android. Neither running under LibreElec nor Android. It also seems to crash quite often when i press the up arrow key (next chapter?): i get a circle in the middle of the screen with "100" in the middle for a few seconds and then it freezes. Movement is jerky too until the movie has run for a minute or two. I found that to be the case on my cheapo box, although i had hoped the Minix would be an improvement.

Before, when i installed CoreElec i couldn't get past the home page so i'm not sure that would be any solution. The only buttons that worked just cycled me between "enter files section" and "remove this item".

It may be my lack of expertise but i must say i'm really very disappointed with the minix so far, but at least with a Brand you get to pick the brains of enthusiasts on a dedicated forum :)

I've updated to the latest 6.0.1 firmware so I'll just have to keep experimenting unless anyone can suggest what i'm doing wrong here.

Im afraid it is entirely your lack of experience, the Minix U9-H running its stock android firmware is perfectly capable of running Kodi 18,1.

The Kodi interface is purely a "Skin" and there are many different ones you can use. A quick google search on Kodi Skins will reveal many options and how to install them

Later Kodi versions have a new default interface, but the older one is still available...it is called Confluence.

This depends on the source of your movie, if you are streaming from the internet then the "quality" of the source host will play a big part on how well it plays and whether "fast forward" etc works well. If you are playing file you host yourself then you will not have this problem.

The up and arrow keys ( i assume you mean on your remote) moves the video defined increments either forward or backward ( defined in Kodi settings)

Thanks again for the reply. Unfortunately Confluence does not have the FF and Rewind buttons when run under LibreElec. I know it's possible to navigate with the arrow buttons, but not FF or Rew in the traditional searching function. It's not a huge deal.

I have got the stock (estuary) Kodi 18.1 running OK on LibreElec by upping the 'HQ Scalers' to 100. Unfortunately, running it under Android now it's permanently jerky movement and changing the HQ scaler setting makes no difference. It's most disheartening.

I don't have the Minix connected to the internet; i purely watch films from a HDD so it's not a streaming problem. I'm actually looking to replace an old WDTV that worked straight out of the box, maybe with a few extra features: ability to synch audio/subtitles, that sort of thing. Unfortunately the only option seems to be a system that has almost infinite settings, most of which i don't understand :-(

well im not really sure that i can help you troubleshoot as i have never felt the need to use Core or Libra Elec.

I use Stock 008 android firmware on my U9-H with Kodi 18.1 using the Aura Skin.

Media files play smooth ( no judder, stutter, jerkiness) from my NAS and FF and Rewind work fine both from Kodi interface and Remote buttons.

Most likely just your setup options.

PS I Have HQ scalers set to 80% although i confess i dont understand what they do !!

It's strange to get such different experiences with the same hardware isn't it? Just to be clear, does the aura skin include 'traditional' FF and Rewind (i.e search) functions or just the jump forward/back in increments (under android)?

thats what i said worked so Yes :)(y)

most of the time i reckon its just a matter of getting the configuration right

Just that small thing! Unfortunately, it certainly has never worked 'out of the box' for me.

Nevermind, i'm not about to give up yet and i'll give aura a whirl next time i'm at the coalface :)
