You can use that app to install Full OTA image zip update files.
Nice, I didn't know that!
Also, I remember on one of my old Android devices running ICS, I was doing a thorough clean up as Ralf suggested, and deleted the default file browser to install FX Explorer. Problem was, once I deleted the default one... ooh-err, how do I install my own one now? I had to figure out the path to the apk and type it in the web browser.
On the other hand, the Minix also has "AppInstaller", so for that purpose, you'd still be able to install apks even if you removed both Files and FileBrowser.
Ralf: if you really want to remove them and use the rooted firmware version, use a root file explorer (e.g. X-plore) and delete their apk. As I said, I do not recommend, but it's up to you.
- FileBrowser.apk is in System/Vendor/App, size: 467KB
- packageinstall.apk is in System/preinstall and in data/app, size: 89KB. I really would leave it alone though.
- X-plore is in System/preinstall, size is 7MB. So if you are concerned about space taken, that would be the one to remove.
By comparison, FX Explorer is 8.7MB, more than the total of all those, so arguably Minix default "bundle" is light weight.
I believe that "Files" is part of vanilla Android, so not sure where it's stored. I might be wrong, feel free to correct me.
Regarding your wallpaper, sorry, I thought it was not the same size as your screen resolution. If it is the same, then I don't know.
