To clarify, the root switch that was included on earlier firmware versions has been removed.Going by John's initial post with the announcement of the FW 006A, which is the Rooted version, not the FW006 which is the original "Non-Rooted" version. Have I got it wrong?!
Are you sure you need root ??@ MINIX - John Hi John, I downloaded the 3-items: Amlogic USB Tool, and the .7z file. But the usb tool is looking for a .img file. Please advise. thanks much
download the .7z file and usb burning tool zip files on your windows pcHey pusb87, thanks. I know you want to help, but I do appreciate if you just take it easy a bit on the sarcasm!
It appears that a .7z file is not extractable in Windows for it to Unzip!!!
It is clear that I am NOT doing it correctly, since apparently other people have had no problem with it!
These are the steps have taken that hasn't worked:
- Formated USB NTFS
- Downloaded the .7z compressed file to Android
- Unzipped the file in Android
- Copied the .img to the USB
- Inserted the USB stick onto windows laptop
- Opened the Amlogic USB Burning Tool app
- Clicked on File, Import
- Pointed it to the USB drive to execute the .img file
- But Windows does not see the .img file
So could you please tell me how to Extract a Linux zip-file in Windows environment for the Amlogic USB Burning Tool to see it, if that is what i need to do
Thanks much

I managed to extract the .7z, and got a .img file. But the Burning Tool doesn’t show any files to start the process. Instead, it pulls up a parse error corrupted message. I might be wrong, but I think the .7z somehow got corrupted during the extracting process! Please advise. Thanks much.
Only install his version if you need root!OK. so before I try this manual install FW 006A Root Switch version, will this fix its not working, here in Oz, with Foxtel Go? Previously even tho the switch was there, Foxtel still said "Box is rooted" !?
