anyone using the Minix A3 remote? I tried using antonio6o6's "sbx_minix_neo_u9h_atv_9_7 Mod 1 fix Remote issue" but i cannot use the Enter button on the Minix A3 keyboard as Enter after I finished typing as an english letter will appear instead of Enter. It's the same with the official slimboxtv 9.7 and also 9.8

Also, my Minix A3 remote has a 3 day battery life. I am using 2x IKEA AAA rechargeable batteries. I tried pairing the remote with the dongle again....and it still has a 3 days battery life.

anyone who can use their Minix A3 remote's keyboard's Enter key as Enter? What settings did you change to allow it to work correctly as Enter instead of an English letter appearing?

For some reason I was having an issue with the Remote. Every time I was changing the software of pie remote was not working but I took a firmware from
superceleron
Admin&Senior Rom Developer. Took out two files. remote control was working with turn on and off minix u9h
Let me know if I can post the two files that I took out of the firmware that's right remote control is work all the credit will go to that man. for some reason he must did something that is working

i tested your 9.7 ATV firmware with the A3 remote and turning on and off the u9-h works.

Hey guys, I'm thinking of giving SlimboxTV a try.

Before I do, I'd like to hear some of your experiences. Are there any downsides compared to Android 6 or the community ROM for 7.1.2? Are there also things that do not work at all?

I also read something in this thread about battery drain when using the A3 remote, is this still an issue? If so, is there a fix?

I started out using the community ROM for about a year and it worked well. I would not say it was great but I had to figure out how to root it so that I could improve performance. After rooting the community edition, I think my experience was good and if I remember correctly, most apps worked well on it. I also have a Nvidia Sheild Pro, so I figured I would give slimbox a try on my Minix to see if that would improve my experience on it compared to Nvidia. First off I went through a few virus scans to ensure that it was virus free, then I proceeded to install the ATV version of SLimbox. I noticed a big increase in performance on the box. I compared it to Nvidia with 4K and it was very close to Nvidia in performance. The other upside was that it was now running android 9 pie so that helped to future proof the box. I removed most of the included apps that came installed, since they were not relevent to me and loaded most all of the apps that I use. I've been using my Minix u9 on SLimbox for a few months now and I have to say that my experience is GREAT. I would highly recommend it.

To be fair with my assessment, now for the negatives that I discovered. There are a few cons but not enough to dissuade me on it. Firstly, the power off or shut down function puts the box into sleep mode not off. I just unplug the box after I shut it down. Unless you solder the board like they ask, the three USB ports will not work, but to bypass that I simply used the OTG cable and port on the box and simply added USB extension ports externally. Easy solution. Finally, there was one or two apps that I was unable to install on the box because the app said that the OS manufacture was not recognized. Apps like ITX would not install. I have installed many many apps without issue, so that one negative was not a real deal breaker. I have not had the remote problems others have talked about, but maybe it might be related to the power off function I spoke about.

I think I covered all my bases regarding SLimbox and in conclusion, I give Slimbox a big thumbs up.

CHeers,

Thank you. I've just installed it. So far, it seems to be very snappy and stable. One small thing that bugs me a bit is the fact that when I put it to sleep, the LED on the Minix stays bright blue. Otherwise, sleep seems to work well.

With regards to fully turning off the Minix, I actually don't experience the behaviour you're describing. For me, it does fully turn off, but the LED on the Minix turns green, which would indicate that it sleeps. However, it does actually turn off completely.

So, essentially, what I'd want is that when I put the Minix to sleep, the LED would turn green, and when I turn the Minix off, the LED turns off (just like on Android 6 and 7). Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?

What you wrote is the behaviour that happens on mine as well. I mean the box is off but the light is dimmed green so I chalk that up to something running in the background even if the box is off. Perhaps its just my bias, but for me off is off. A light running on means something is running in the background. Again just my bias.

Can we submit a bug report anywhere? Then Antonio's fix can maybe be incorporated and I could notify them of the problem with the LED. I found the Telegram channels/chats for SlimboxTV but they're all in Russian

Just installed this and am impressed, a minor niggle how do I turn off the box highlighting, I think this is there for navigation using the arrows on a keyboard.

Sadly you cant .. it's been a bug for a few years now ... if you use a lighter background it is not so noticeable . I also have the app on my U22 and it is the same issue, however I use a less expensive box that is running Android 11 and the problem does not show up, so slight hope that someone can find the reason and resolve it but you shouldn't hold your breath.

i tried the latest 9.10 and the power on button on the Minix Neo A3 remote works without any mods.

btw, does the default infrared remote of the u9-h works for you guys on slimboxtv? i might be using that instead of the Neo A3 due to Neo A3's battery drain issue.

How did you download the rom? I can't get it from yandex... (cant register, don't get a sms with code; I'm from The Netherlands)
Can you please share you're download though other platform?
I'd like to try the AOSP version.
Thanx

Never mind, got it. Think my poor WiFi was the issue, connected to LAN and logged out from yandex...

Guys,
Just so I get this right.......I use the standard firmware update tool.....and if I use ............. "sbx_minix_neo_u9h_atv_9_8 Mod 1''........I do not need to do anything beforehand......For example I can go direct from the last Minix firmware direct to this one?
Is this correct?
Thanks
