U9-H-CE FW001 Android 7.1.2 20191120 [Community Edition Nougat Firmware]

What about Netfix and Amazon Prime video apps? Does the work? Can they be downloaded from play store? Which video resolution? 720p 1080p 4k?
I have Netflix and Prime both installed and working. You won't find Netflix in the Playstore but is easily installed... as with most MINIX devices 720p will be max or slightly above. ( Test Pattern Method )

Although, I didn't install Prime initially via the Playstore. I was however able to update the version from the Playstore... I haven't checked the resolution as yet.

Be careful. That looks like it may just be a charging cable!
  • Great for charging your phone, tablet, or digital camera
It has to be a data cable!
I looked as well and it also says
>> Twisted pair cabling and shielded construction ensures reliable data transmissions

I would look for a shorter cable myself though unless 6ft is absolutely required .

Hello guys, a quick question: I have had the 7.1.2 version for a long time. Now I've noticed that I don't have write access to the root folder! I tried to create a folder manually with the file explorer. Unfortunately I have no authorization. I also wanted to download a movie with Kodi - Kodi doesn't make it either. Not even on the external SD card. Before that I had the original Minix ROM "U9H_ FW008". Can it be that the update did not work correctly?

Hey & welcome :).

The stock Marshmallow ROM has known limitations with the specific locations you can download files to with Kodi.

You have to specify the path for Kodi on the internal memory itself, or specify the path as below to save files to an SD card or they wouldn't save.....

[Your SD]/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi

You can create a folder within this path & Kodi should save your files there.

Admittedly, I've never got around to testing downloading files with Kodi to an SD or any other external source with Kodi on the CE ROM. Try specifying the path as above & see if that at least allows you to download successfully. If it does work, you may be subject to the same limitations.

Please let us know if this works for you should any other forum members have the same enquiry :)

Thanks for your quick reply. I love this forum! The family is watching TV and I cannot test it immediately;) I will of course get in touch again if I have any news. Would rooting the box solve the problem?

I have now carried out some tests:
1. My filemanager can create folders on the external micro SD card & on a USB stick
2. But he cannot create anything on the internal memory / root directory => no write access !!!
3. In Kodi I specified the download path - once on the micro SD card and once on a USB stick (previously created the folder with filemanager). Kodi also downloads the film and at the end informs me that the film has been downloaded. Unfortunately, nothing is saved in the directory. I suspect Kodi has no write permissions at all. This is the information that I can pass on to you.

You're welcome & thanks for sharing :).

When you say "root" are you creating/specifying a download directory within Kodi's root path as with the SD card path?

If no, try it, there's still a chance it may allow downloads/writes to a folder created within the actual Kodi directory on the internal memory.

Failing that, if it's a feature you must have obviously you may have to consider rolling back to the stock ROM but you'll need to weigh up your subjective pros & cons.

Hi there. After a few tries, I have to give up resignedly. I tried different paths - unfortunately without success. The recording paths are:
[My SD] /Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/
[My SD] /Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/downloads/
[My SD] / downloads /
[My SD] /
If I try to create a recording path in the internal memory under Kodi this is not possible at all!
I think I will stay on this firmware anyway or do a reinstall sometime ...

Hi there, I highly recomend to use an external SSD ie 240gb + 2.5 external HD box....cost approx is 50 euros. Then adopt it as internal storage. Give a try, although some times could be not fast enough due to USB 2.0. You can also do it with the Sd but maybe is not fast enough...try it. I have this config to cache with Elementum and works fine.
Hope this helps

Hello and thanks for the suggestion. You are right - I could try this variant. However, the question is - if I want to copy the recorded films on the PC and I remove the external hard drive, is it recognized on the PC?

Nope, but you can use Samba and do it through your local network.....use a pendrive is something from the past.
