Fresh Kodi instal on fresh minix
I try 18.6 + 18.7 not work
I go make vidéo when i make Kodi instal and try to play thé movie from USB stick in minix ,i Can show you in thé vidéo that it works with minix vidéo player ,but not with Kodi if you want

If you have one movie(s) in one usb pen drive (for example) and it works well in kodi 18.7 next step is acess all your database library from a server.

Choose your Minix devices that are supported here (u9h for example).

U9-H should play your files with no problem.

Don't use your industrial device X39 (not supported here) for your tests now (not designed/suited for home entretainment).

You can test also with your windows PC.

I make thé test with thé u9h as you Can see in thé previous message
If Kodi Can not playing from USB stick in minix u9h without stuttering so i dont think that playing from m'y network will work !!

I go make vidéo for prove all that
I make you vidéo with Factory reset on minix u9h +installation from Kodi 18.7
Then i put thé USB stick in thé minix and play with minix vidéo player ,After this i try read with Kodi from USB stick

Buy popcorn because thé vidéo will be 30 minutes ..and After that we gona talk again

If your U9-H is working well (almost with factory reset and with kodi 18.7 default settings ) should play well also with external USB.
As i said with that above working well next step is network.

Don't try to do too many tests at once. Take one test at a time and compare speeds, stability.

Ok. i understood now.

I always use kodi (I know, and use this media player since the very beginning of XBMC :) with just working for original XBOX).

With that said i only use kodi (to play videos) with minix android boxes and in windows i also use BS player for testing.

For me and with the users that already wrote in this thread kodi is working well (and with network).
You must review your configuration (has to work).

Try also with not only file but more files.

I rip more then 300 Blu Ray ,they all work with windows player
I take 2fast 2Furious for example

For the moment thé minix u9h Can play them from USB stick(test 2fast 2 Furious) with vidéo player from minix without stuttering,perfect

But Kodi 18.6/18.7 Can not play them without stuttering from USB stick
And this After trying différent things
So thé problèm is Kodi !!! And not thé network ,
No need to try more with network if simple USB stick playing dont work corectly
Kodi Can not play Blu Ray rip mkv without stuttering !!!

Thé question is does it work with u22xj and Kodi ????

If the problem for you is kodi you can try with another kodi build but i don´t advice you and i think the result will be the same or worst.

You have for example:
Kodi v19 "Matrix" nightly (you have several builds and today latest build).

Just for testing you don´t need to scan your kodi whole database library, just share a folder and choose this "directory contains none" .

Choosing the shared directory for movies/tv shows/music is only needed for extra information (covers, actors, etc)....
 
Long story short, because you have confirmed the video plays flawlessly with the Minix video player but not with Kodi then I am sorry to say it is obvious you are on the wrong forum, try getting some help with this on the Kodi forum rather (y)

A make a vidéo with fresh Kodi 18.7 instal in thé vidéo and i show thé playback from USB stick with minix vidéo player and then with Kodi to see that it not work...i download thé vidéo on YouTube for the moment (it take some Time) will post it when finish
