Thank you .

Have tested this and looks like your right in that the U22 does not handle HDR 10+ profiles correctly either.

File plays perfectly on my LGC9 native player, but not on the U22 using either VLC or Kodi.

Another bug to add to the pot

Thanks. I actually tested on my Panasonic TV's native player and on the U22 with Kodi on CoreElec. File plays perfectly in both cases.
Understood CoreElec is not Android based, so it may be a reason while it behaves better for HDR10+ on the U22

Sorry to add but your link plays fine for me with VLC, the TV (Samsung 65Q70R) registers HDR10+ correctly and displays it in the info bar. I cannot try via Kodi as I do not have it installed.

Edit: Installed Kodi and it plays fine there too, again TV registers HDR10+ in the info bar.

Getting more strange :)

I actually observe that the HDR10+ flag on the TV goes on/off while playing the video via VLC (as if some frames were HDR10+ and some were not).
If I use the TV's native player the HDR10+ flag is always on while playing the file. The flag is also always on when using CoreElec + Kodi

If the SDR to HDR is off on the Minix settings, the HDR10+ is completely ignored (and file is played as SDR with washed out colours)

My settings are:
Dolby vision disable (otherwise the box is always outputting dolby vision even for non DV files)
deep colours on
colorspace 422

Regarding the test on LG TVs, from what I recall, LG decided to only offer Dolby Vision and has no support for HDR10+ (and Samsung did the exact opposite) so it's not expected to work properly if one uses an LG TV for testing.

Marty, could you share your settings for SDR to HDR / Deep colours and colourspace? I'd like to test with the same settings as you if possible in order to eliminate any issue that may due to the settings.

Thanks

Not entirely true as the LG will still play HDR 10+
I have just played the same file on my U9 using both VLC and Kodi and it plays in HDR mode and looks great.

So the plot thickens even more.

I think we just need to wait for Minix to reappear and explain it all !!

Sure:
SDR to HDR = On (if set to off then no HDR or HDR10+ in TV info and vid is SDR)
HDR to SDR = Auto
Dolby Vision is disabled by default and cannot be activated as my TV does not support it
Color Depth Settings = On
Color Space Settings = 420

Current specs for LG TVs are not such. (And older models did HDR10, as I happen to own one)

EDITED: LG really kept out the HDR10+

Tried a bunch of combinations (including your exact settings with no luck)
My only way to have it as HDR (not yet HDR10+) using VLC is
SDR to HDR = on
HDR to SDR = off
Color Depth Settings = On
Color Space = both 420 and 422 can output HDR for this file, but still no HDR10+

HDR10 pro is LG's marketing name for HDR10.
HDR10+ is not the same and LG is mostly reluctant to use it as it's developed by Samsung.

If you play an HDR10+ file on an LG display it will be read as static HDR10.

Although I think there must be a difference between LG's naming HDR10 and HDR10Pro, as mine doesn't have the Pro, I must agree HDR10+ is a different thing and LG really kept it out. In my TV however your file is not even red as static HDR, the icon doesn't light up, and the colours look a little bit washed out. Unfortunately I won't be able to test HDR10+ in the Minix U22-XJ, as my TV sets are not compliant.

EDITED: Above post corrected. Thank you.

I was just preparing to do a manual install of v003 (and associated wipe) but decided to check FOTA first. Found update V003A - downloaded and it installed properly.

Thanks Minix team!!!!

hello ... i don't know if bug but wifi 2.4 almost absent ... while wifi 5 is fine ... you too?

Hi @fabzilla, the other way around would be the matter to worry. If you have two frequencies and devices capable of connecting to the 5Ghz network that is the frequency they should connect to. The U22-XJ chooses the best frequency automatically. Unlike previous models there is no outside interventions for you to perform about it. Should you have older devices that can't "see" the 5Ghz frequency, than you have no option but to connect them to the 2.4 Ghz frequency. I really can't understand your concern about this. Is it not playing well connected to 5Ghz or what is it about? Did you try the device so far, not only about settings, but also in what some entertainment is concerned? It should do pretty good, you should also try that. :)

Your U9-H is also connected through your AVR which doesn't support dynamic HDR10+ passthrough!!

As yet, very few AVR's indeed do support it. It's probably just defaulting back to static HDR10.

I have the exact same result. Although my LG Tv is not supposed to be HDR10+, fact is the native player of the Tv does wonders with the bright colours from this video, the HDR icon comes up and it is really nice. Couldn't get that result with the U22-XJ, it apparently didn't even recognize it as HDR.

Kodi - file delete problem

In Kodi (18.6 from play store), I have the option "Allow file renaming and deletion" enabled. In Kodi, when I delete the file from my attached USB hard drive, it does not actually delete.

Using the Files app in Android, I am able to successfully delete the file that I cannot using Kodi. I checked Kodi permissions and it has Storage permission enabled.

I turned debug on in Kodi and see the following:
2020-05-05 10:09:12.613 T:5815 WARNING: Delete: Can't access file "/storage/74629D0D629CD4E8/My TV/Bosch/Bosch.S06E09.WEBRip.x264-ION10.mp4"
2020-05-05 10:09:12.614 T:5815 ERROR: Delete - Error deleting file /storage/74629D0D629CD4E8/My TV/Bosch/Bosch.S06E09.WEBRip.x264-ION10.mp4

I then tried using a USB stick instead of the hard drive and same result.

I have tried this on both V002 and V003A - same result. Using the same version of Kodi, the same USB hard drive, but my Minix U1, I was able to successfully delete files from the USB hard drive.

Incorrect android setting - Kodi setting - android permission I am missing??? Any suggestions/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like you have read access only in the Android OS, were you ever greeted with a message to allow read/write for the external through a file manager like below?

No, don't recall any prompting during setup/install of Kodi or hard drive. But as I am able to delete files using the Android app "Files" I assumed there is proper access permission at the android OS level. The only option I can see for Kodi permission is "storage" which is on - no further granualarity for read versus read/write versus read/write/delete that I can see??
