The newest firmware for NEO U9-H

Hi, I have installed the (latest / first) FW001 android-7-1-2-nougat.1310/ today and have been enjoying good work that has been done I think it works very well and has a bright look and feel to it. I would like to ask if it is possible to have a setting that was found on the previous Android 6.0.1, the setting being the option to set how the rotation is used, I used force land in 6.0.1 and that enabled all apps to appear in landscape. I see that several apps that I use appear in portrait and are difficult to access the menu's, I have set the display settings to rotate and that has enabled the app selections to appear in landscape, so perhaps if I am missing something could someone advise or maybe its on the list to be looked into. Thanks for the good work.

So...i'm only a few months into this android box stuff. I got the Neo U9-H. Did the fix for Netflix. Using version 6.26.1. Can't remember who posted it, but thanks.
Now i know what most would say...if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The box, in my opinion, works fine. Just an occasional glitch that doesn't bug me at all.
My question is, when you install the new firmware, will it erase all the apps and logon data that is used?
I'd hate to have gone this far and have to start again.
Is it worth upgrading to 7.1.2?
Thanks in advance

@Scotchblade because you are new in Android Tv Boxes i recommend to you that you stay with Android 6 (Marshmallow) for now to get familiar with.Check if you have latest final firmware for Android Marshmallow.Go to settings advanced settings about phone and in the bottom build number U9-H FW008 20180209 and that's the latest firmware. If you doesn't have latest firmware update go to All Apps (Minix Metro) and click on System update and in the bottom click on check for updates and follow the instructions. When you install new firmware it won't erase anything but when you install new OS CE Android 7 (Nougat) 7.1.2 stable it will erase everything and you will have only stock apps and than you must install apps that you want.

Yes, if you flash the CE firmware it wipes the device & you start afresh.

If there's really no pressing reason to update & everything is generally working well as is, you may be better off just sticking with the stock firmware. Obviously that decision is down to you, however ;).

You can create a new seperate thread to discuss the occasional glitch you've been experiencing if you wish. It may be easily resolved or the cause could be a specific app or a missed configuration option, etc.

@Scotchblade hi.
I advice you only update firmware to the latest nougat ROM in these situations:
- you really need a new ROM
-you want to know how it works for you and if it is better for you.

If you try the new ROM you can always downgrade to previous marshmallow.

Two advantages of flashing a new ROM are the learning process of flashing and the behavior of the ROM.

The process of upgrade or downgrade is manual using usb burning tool.

My opinion of the new ROM:
It is a stable version and it works very well.

Thanks for the input guys. I upgraded the first day i got the box and didn't notice a change or had anything on it to be erased. The last FOTA update was quick and easy.
I'll hold off on upgrading. I will continue reading comments on issues, fixes, and guides, and do it down the road.
This is a great little box, the best of the few i've had my hands on.

I think his comment meant he did the stock firmware OTA Rui, not this ROM ;)!!
Hum . Maybe but he was thinking in upgrade. He asked . Anyway i think he will continue to read about this new ROM and one day he will decide ☺

Hi All
I have updated to Nougat and I'd like to thank you for the hard work you put in. I was looking through the settings being nosey and noticed an option for HDR ON so thought I would have that as my TV has HDR the problem is as I chose it the screen went black and although the light on the box shines blue it doesn't seem to want to boot so it seems choosing HDR was a bad thing.

I am now a bit lost what to try next so I'm asking the Guru's here if there's anything I can do to bring my lovely black box back to life?

Hi.
You can not boot the device ?
I have an HDR TV and i never change HDR settings (i leave it with default settings always).

Even with an non HDR TV the best is always using default settings.

If you can not boot the device try this: (post 1 - factory reset)

....or flash the ROM again if you can't see the recovery menu ;).

Hi,
New to the forum/minix and half-new to android units. Will receive my Neo U9-H this week, what are the benefits of upgrading to Nougat? I usually always go for the latest, even if Beta, but that is when I know why. I know there was a similar question above but since I haven't done anything yet, I might as well do the upgrade right away before doing the setup?
